Some meetings are too important to run yourself. When the owner chairs the planning session, people tell the owner what the owner wants to hear. A neutral facilitator lets you take part instead of running the room, keeps the hard topics on the table, and makes sure everyone leaves knowing what was decided and who owns it.
What I facilitate
Annual and quarterly planning, strategic goals, and the action plans that turn them into work.
A set of half-day workshops that build on each other, from diagnosis to strategy to execution.
A leadership team that has drifted, a new leader joining, or friction that keeps coming back.
Succession, roles and authority, or a decision the room keeps avoiding, with structure and a neutral chair.
What you leave with
Every part of the agenda has inputs going in and outputs coming out.

How it runs
A call with the owner about what the session needs to decide, who should be in the room, and what has been avoided.
Pre-work for participants and, where it helps, short interviews or a diagnostic, so the session starts from facts.
A clear agenda, ground rules everyone agrees to, and a neutral chair who keeps the room on the decisions.
A written summary of decisions, owners, and dates, and the open commitments carried into the next session.
What it looks like
An equipment rental company in Parkland County ran a series of half-day workshops. The first covered a business diagnostic, a SWOT, and the critical success factors that drive the business. The next built a register of key risks and issues, ranked them, and gave each high-priority item an owner and a strategy.
From there the team set strategic goals and built action plans for the top strategies. Every workshop opened with each owner reporting on their open commitments from the last one, so nothing was quietly dropped.
Common questions
You can, but then the person with the most authority is also running the room. A neutral facilitator lets the owner take part, and makes it easier for everyone else to say what they really think.
Most are half-day workshops, run on their own or as a series that builds over several months. Bigger questions can need a full day or a retreat.
Most sessions are a leadership or management team. We set the group on the first call, based on what needs to be decided and who has to own it.
We agree them at the start. Usually: challenge ideas, not people; one voice at a time; and what is said in the room stays in the room.
A retreat is a bigger, off-site version with more preparation and a shared experience. Facilitation can be a single session in your boardroom. See leadership team retreats for the longer format.
